Set in the heart of Lincolnshire’s dramatic Fenland, Boston is immersed in history. This classic market town is a gem found on the edge of the famous Wash, making it the perfect base for a short break to the area.
The spire of “The Stump” (St. Botolph’s Church) can be seen from miles around and is a must visit. Nearby, Boston Guildhall is a magnificent medieval building built in the 1390’s and is now a fascinating visitor attraction.
Boston was a centre of trade, second only to London. Much of the rich history of the town is still evident today.
No market town is complete without the weekly markets. Wednesday and Saturdays are when Boston’s take place, making it ideal for both for a mid-week break or a weekend. The Medieval Lanes are filled with independent shops and many of your favourite High Street stores can be found in Pescod Square – the town’s main shopping area.
An eclectic mix of English and European restaurants and cafes mean there are plenty of places to eat. For evening entertainment, look out for events at Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre.
