However you arrive, enjoy the view…

There’s no missing Lincoln for miles around, high on a hilltop our Castle and Cathedral dominate the skyline, with the awesome towers of one of Europe’s finest Gothic buildings visible for up to 30 miles away. It’s always a glorious sight.

1,000 years of hidden history…

You could spend the whole day here to be honest, but no visit to Lincoln is complete without touring the new-look Lincoln Castle. Take a spin around the new medieval Wall Walk and the stunning views cross the city and beyond, visit the imposing Victorian Prison and see Magna Carta in the David P J Ross Magna Carta Vault.

Pop across the cobbled square…

One of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe, Lincoln Cathedral was once the world’s tallest building and you can explore it on a guided floor or roof tour. It’s a magnificient building with jaw-dropping architecture, inside and out. Even better, a joint Castle and Cathedral ticket offers entry to both – plus free return visit.

Tackle Steep Hill…

Trust us, it’s aptly named! But it’s well worth the effort. You’ll find vintage stores, tea rooms and specialty shops. Start at the top at Castle Square and wander down the cobbled streets enjoying the views along the way. If you can’t face the walk back, relax, there’s a shuttle bus!

Take in a bit of culture…

You can explore history and take in some great culture in museums and attractions across the city – and most of them are free. Don’t miss The Collection – and take a break at Stokes Café there - The Usher Art Gallery, Museum of Lincolnshire Life and Lincoln Guildhall.

Relax by the water…

With the Cathedral a spectacular backdrop high above, Brayford waterfront is great for re-charging your batteries during the day at one of the waterfront cafes and restaurants. It’s a great place to while away a summer’s evening too. Or hop on the Brayford Belle boat for a different perspective of the city from the water.

Hop on the open top bus…

This has to be one of the best ways to experience the city. Hop aboard the Tour Lincoln double decker and take in all of Lincoln’s main attractions and historical sites with live commentary. Spot something you like? Hop off at any of the stops to discover more.

Take a walk with a difference…

Ever wondered ‘What have the Romans done for us’? Find out in Lincoln, known as Lindum Colonia by the Romans who made it their stronghold. Discover more with the new Roman Trail, which takes you around the remains of Lincoln’s Roman city. For an evening stroll join the Original Lincoln Ghost Walk, a great mix of history and mostly family-friendly ghostly tales.

Tuck into a tasty treat…

This shouldn’t come as a surprise from a city and county so closely linked to farming, but there’s a really vibrant food and drink scene in the city, including locally sourced fine-dining, real ale and craft beers along with quaint tea rooms and cafes. Savour the flavour!
