A stunning exhibition that explores the life and beauty of both garden and wetland birds. A range of media, craft, art and photography has been created by local practitioners, with all work on display available to purchase. ‘Birds on the Wing’ features photography by Wildlife and Swan Photographer Anne Waterfield whose body of work ‘All about Swans’ has previously exhibited at the Discovery Centre at Clumber Park.
There will also be a Swan Facts section which is informative and also include a mini me exhibition and trail aimed at young children.

Cogglesford Watermill holds regular milling days on the second Sunday of the month. Watch the mill in operation making stone ground flour as if it would'v done over 200 years ago.

The work includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, glass and wood.

Take inspiration from our ‘Birds on the Wing exhibition and be introduced to random weaving with willow. This full day workshop will show you the easiest way to achieve great looking birds full of character and will look great in your garden or home.

There will be also lots of fun activities to have a go at including a mobile climbing wall provided by the NK Outreach Team! Craft activities will also be on offer throughout the day as well as opportunities to have a go at a Vitality dance class bringing movement and music to the over sixties. There’s so much to get involved in!
There will also be a wide range of other information available about what's on offer in the area from local sports groups to community groups. So if you're looking for a new hobby or volunteering opportunities or anything else for that matter! Come along and get involved!
All activities will take place outside the The National Centre for Craft & Design in Navigation Wharf and Navigation House.
All our Discovery Days are FREE to attend, and there is no need to book. Enjoy a day out with the whole family! Please bring snacks or even a lunch, and stay all day. All aged 8 or under must be accompanied by an adult, all aged 9 or over can self-register for the activities. Consent forms will be available on the day.
