Whisby Nature Park

North Hykeham

North Hykeham extends west from the banks of the Witham across the line of the Fosse Way (once the main road to Newark), where the town has a station on the Lincoln-Nottingham railway line.

As a well established town, North Hykeham and its surrounding villages boast some fine hotels, welcoming bed and breakfast establishments, inviting pubs and restaurants, plus excellent sports facilities, a theatre and a good range of shops.  Its close proximity to Lincoln also makes North Hykeham an ideal base for visiting the many attractions of the historic city.

The main arterial road, Newark Road, is built directly on top of the old Roman Road, Fosse Way and areas such as The Forum shopping centre echo its Roman heritage. The North Hykeham Farmers' market is also a popular event featuring the best of local produce. It takes place on the fourth Friday of every month on the Ark car park on Moor Lane, LN6 9AB.

One NK on Moor Lane is the District's largest leisure centre and is home to a variety of sports facilities including two indoor swimming pools, a cafe & bar plus much more. The adjacent Terry O'Toole Theatre is an intimate, 200 seat community theatre hosting a number of events and professional performances, with a programme frequently including Jazz, brass, folk and other musical genres, tribute bands, contemporary dance and children's theatre as well as classical stage work. Just a stones throw away is Whisby Nature Park located just off the A46 and is a peaceful and tranquil setting to spend your afternoon enjoying the flora and fauna; not to mention the various wildlife which includes Nightingales and the Great Crested Grebe. Located within the Park, the Natural World Centre offers something for all ages. You'll find a great bistro serving hot and cold snacks, meals and treats from locally sourced produce, a fantastically stocked shop and amazing adventure play for children of all ages. The Centre now boasts a multifunctional suite ideal for meetings, conferences and special occasions. For more information about the Cygnet Suite visit their website.
