Places to Visit
The Fens has some fantastic attractions on offer, for great days out and plenty of fun.
The landscape thrives on an endless network of beautiful waterways where you can walk, cycle and fish to your heart's content.
Spalding and Boston are two of the key market towns in the Fens. Spalding is situated on the River Welland - with an attractive waterfront boasting grand Georgian terraces, tree lined streets and pretty riverside walks. Much of the town is now an outstanding conservation area and offers a traditional shopping centre, busy markets and plenty of history.
Boston is a coastal market town, steeped in history. The stunning market place leads to medieval lanes with a range of independent boutiques. And towering over the town is the ‘Stump’; a church boasting the tallest tower of any in England. The Pilgrim Fathers were famously imprisoned at the Guildhall – now a visitor attraction - and made their first attempt to escape from England from nearby Fishtoft.
Did you know that Maud Foster Windmill is the tallest working windmill in England? Take a tour to the top and enjoy the view!
