Epworth
Childhood Home of both John and Charles Wesley, passions once ran high and history was in the making in this peaceful rural village.
The Wesley family moved to Epworth in 1695 and John returned to Epworth many times, preaching in the market place and on his father’s tomb. Visit Epworth Old Rectory and Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in the historic town forever linked to the church's founder John.

St Andrews Parish Church also has strong connections with the Wesley Family. John and Charles’ father, Reverend Samuel Wesley, was the Rector here from 1695 to 1735. 2007 sees the 300th anniversary of the birth of John’s brother Charles.
The Rectory was bought from the Church of England in 1954, the purchase and subsequent renovations and alterations being carried out thanks to the generosity of the World Methodist Council. The house is run by a Board of Trustees representing local churches, the UK Methodist Connexion and the World Methodist Council.
The Old Rectory contains furniture which is authentic 18th century, and indeed some items belonged to the Wesley family. Other artefacts on display have been given and are cared for by the Curator and volunteers.
