Festivals are a big part of Lincolnshire’s culture, with festivals taking place throughout the year you will never be short of finding something to do in Lincolnshire.
The Lincoln Book Festival is an event to celebrate all things literary, held in every May, the festival attracts local, national and international writers and artists and celebrates both historical and contemporary works of art spanning from Lincolnshire’s past with the Magna Carta and Tennyson, to new writing.
For a beach-hut based seaside spectacle The Bathing Beauties Festival brings music, fire performances and street theatre to shores of Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea each September. Launched in 2007, it’s the UK’s only arts festival centred in and around beach huts.
The Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival held every May, offers a vast range of organised walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounding countryside. There are walks to suit any age, ability or interest, from gentle evening strolls to energetic long distance walking. Grab some fresh air, gaze across stunning views and feel totally pleased and exhilarated for making the effort!

The West Lindsey Churches Festival, also held in May, is a celebration of rich architecture and heritage, with beautiful tranquillity and spirituality, a welcoming oasis of peace that all Lincolnshire churches offer. Numerous exciting activities are taking place for you to enjoy - from organ trails to flower and art displays, to bell-ringing and big brunch breakfasts.
The SO Festival is an exciting new festival launched in 2009: SO 2010 is set to take Skegness by storm. The four day festival taking place in July, will build on the success of SO 2009, that incorporated comedy, cabaret and opera with Jonathan Ansell beamed live from the theatre to the beach!
The Sausage Festival celebrates the county’s most famous export the Lincolnshire Sausage. This free event hosts a variety of stalls showcasing the best of Lincolnshire produce.
As well as the larger festivals there are the more unusual held in the villages of Tetford and Salmonby in the wolds, hold an annual Scarecrow Festival where residents make scarecrows and display them outside their homes every year in May.
