Things to Do
  Red Arrows

Probably the most famous aerobatic team in the world!

With the county's history of aviation going back to the earliest days of military flying, perhaps it's only natural that such a team is based in Lincolnshire.

For 40 seasons the famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team - better known as The Red Arrows - has delighted and amazed crowds the world over.  Seeing them practising in the big Lincolnshire skies can't fail to impress.

The team has set the benchmark in aerobatic display formation flying.  Intense training and practice results in some breathtaking moves as the nine red Hawk aircraft soar through the sky, dipping, weaving, flying in complete precision.

The Red Arrows are the public face of the Royal Air Force and exist to demonstrate the professional excellence of the RAF and promote recruitment to the RAF.

But it's not just the skill of the nine pilots, it's teamwork.  On the ground is a comprehensive support team whose exhaustive checks ensure everything is 100% correct so that the aircraft are ready for the demanding season of spectacular flying.

The Hawk aircraft flown by the team and most of its components are all British made.  Thus during overseas tours The Red Arrows demonstrates both British skill and British technology to an enormous number of people each year.

Check out the team’s 2005 Display programme at www.raf.mod.uk/reds. But while you are waiting to see them at an air show ...
