The 2008 Wolds Walking Festival is set to be the biggest and best yet. As an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Lincolnshire Wolds were created by the movement of glaciers: with rolling hills, deep-sided valleys, picture-postcard villages and friendly market towns. With around 60 walks offered over 16 days, there is plenty of opportunity to explore the beauty and charm of the area with experienced and knowledgeable leaders keen to pass on their wisdom.
There will be special interest walks - including history, geology, nature and health - as well as day rambles, evening strolls and much more. The walks will range in difficulty from easily accessible routes to accommodate wheelchairs and pushchairs, to routes for the more experienced rambler. So whatever your age, ability or interest, you are sure to find something to suit!
The Festival’s day-long Launch Event, held on 17th May in the heart of the Wolds will feature entertainment, demonstrations, talks, workshops, opportunities for you to try tight-rope walking, globe walking and stilt walking, food & drink and of course a variety of walks all starting from one location – it is sure to be a fun-packed day and great way to start the festival.
With plenty of walker friendly accommodation available and lots of places to savour local food and drink, take some time out and discover Lincolnshire in the best possible way - on foot!
