The World’s First Sausage & Potato Festival
Saturday 25th October - Castle Square, Lincoln
On Saturday 25th October the first national celebration of the potato will take place alongside the 6th national Sausage Festival.
There’s no better place than Lincolnshire to commemorate sausages and potatoes! Made to a traditional recipe with the finest Lincolnshire pork, the Lincolnshire sausage is nationally renowned and has grown in popularity thanks to the popular Sausage Festival. Lincolnshire’s love affair with the potato can be traced back over 400 years and the county is now the largest potato producer in the UK with the greatest proportion of Grade I land in England.
Visitors to Lincoln can visit the Sausage Festival in its usual place in Castle Hill and then go onto explore the new Potato Festival in Lincoln Castle – all for free!
To celebrate the International Year of the Potato there will be a hive of activity from 10am to 4pm, including a variety of stalls, cookery demonstrations and entertainment for all the family.
This one day event will be the first of its kind in the country and aims to help visitors learn all about the county’s trademark foods, especially the history of the potato, its health benefits and new recipe ideas.
Rachel Green, celebrity chef and local food champion, will entertain the crowds with cookery demonstrations featuring potatoes and sausages. International street performers, Cosmic Sausages will also make a welcome return to the Festival.
