Being less than two hours by road and rail from London, the Fens are accessible to everyone. There are three airports that are within two hours from the market towns of Boston and Spalding, East Midlands Airport, Humberside Airport, and Stansted Airport.
The following pages will provide you with information on ‘how to get there’ by road, rail, air and sea. There are also maps to assist you with your planning.
By Road
The Fens are less then two hours by road from London.
Motorway and dual carriageway networks are few and far between, however there is a good road network and traffic is relatively light. The main A16 and A17 Truck roads cross each other in the centre of the Fens and there is almost always an alternative scenic route. Many of the minor roads follow the route of the many dykes and drains in the area and follow the natural curves of the watercourse.
Major Roads
