Ayscoughfee Hall Museum is housed in a beautiful wool merchant's house built in 1451 on the banks of the River Welland. There have been Georgian and Victorian alterations to the original medieval design that has made the Hall a wonderful mixture of architectural styles. The Museum has two main themes: the history of the building itself and the story of the south Lincolnshire Fens and the people who lived on them. The Museum also incorporates the Geest Gallery, which hosts a lively programme of changing exhibitions. Ayscoughfee Hall has five acres of walled gardens that includes a seventeenth century ice house, a war memorial designed by Edwin Lutyens and sculpted Yew trees dating from the 1720s.
Admission to the Museum and Gardens is free.
