Home to the finest live theatre, the very best of British and international films, all kinds of music, dance and comedy, Blackfriars is the hub around which arts activity revolves in the region.
The theatre plays host to a huge range of live shows, both professional and local community events and the annual Blackfriars pantomime is something of a legend in itself. With an amazing, vibrant and exciting youth theatre, which sees attendance by over 100 young people each week, Blackfriars certainly has something to offer everyone.
Blackfriars offers a film programme featuring recent British releases, top Hollywood and World movies, again giving the widest possible choice with a menu that would commonly only be found in a regional film theatre.
If you call into the box office you will find a relaxing and friendly atmosphere that will draw you into staying around a while. Sample the coffee, pick up information and browse the Foyer Gallery where regular exhibitions by professional and amateur painters, sculptors, photographers and numerous craft workers are displayed. Much of the artwork is available for purchase, offering the chance to pick up a really unusual gift.
With a huge range of participating classes and workshop events for both adults and children, covering art, craft, pottery, dance, drama and singing, you can see why Blackfriars is the undisputed centre for the arts in Boston.
