Wherever you visit in the Fens you cannot help but notice the many fields of produce and flowers. Working the soil has been the purpose for many generations of Fen people who have maintained a close kinship with the land. History, nature and the ingenuity of man have provided a landscape unrivalled for its rich fertile soil and abundant variety of crops.
Throughout the four seasons, the ever changing landscape offers wonderful floral sights for all to enjoy. Yellow carpets of daffodils in spring, vivid summer displays of rose fields in bloom and spectacular flower festivals demonstrate the importance of flower growing in the Fens.

The Fens are the centre of Britain’s bulb and seed industry, a rich heritage proudly displayed through festivals, show gardens and flower displays.
The Wisbech area is renowned for its apple orchards and strawberries.
The colour, scent and beauty of spring flowers in open fields are not to be missed, although more now are grown under glass. Springfields at Spalding is a showpiece for the national flower and bulb industry, with many acres of displays.
Across the Fens there are gorgeous gardens, numerous garden centres and specialist nurseries and fabulous flower festivals, the largest being the Spalding Flower Parade held each year at the beginning of May.
Many of the market towns have wonderful floral displays and parks and open spaces. Chatteris, Long Sutton and Wisbech all won RHS Gold Awards in 2009 in the regional Britain in Bloom competitions. Wisbech was also awarded the trophy for the ‘Best Large Town / Small City in the UK ‘
