Compton Hall at South Creake, near Fakenham is a working arable farm, and as well as the sheep and pigs reared here, since the year 2000 we have been growing our Amazing Maize Maze and welcoming visitors from all around the world!
The maize is planted at the end of April, or early in May and it takes until mid July to reach 4ft. By the end of the season in September, the height of the maize can reach 9ft! On a hot summers day, the plants can grow up to 1 inch in height and you can actually hear the corn growing!
There is a quiz to complete as you go around the maze, just pick up your question sheet as you arrive.
The field of the maize maze covers 7 1/2 acres, and the pathways of the maze are designed carefully into a special theme and then pulled out by hand. Visitors are asked not to cut through the corn as this will damage the pattern and spoil the fun for other people, and are warned that they will be watched at all times by our resident cheat-spotter…
