18 plus hole golf courses

If you have already checked the details on the 18-hole golf courses page, you will have discovered that Lincolnshire has a wealth of golf complexes and resorts for your short break or golfing holiday. From spa & golf breaks to courses with 27, 36 and even 45-holes to choose from you won’t be disappointed.

Starting in the north of the county you will find Gainsborough Golf Club a superb 36-hole golf complex with two distinctly different 18-hole courses. Bought by the internationally renowned manufacturer Ping in 1985, the original parkland Thonock 18-holes were added to in 1997 with the more American styled Karsten Lakes course. For a spot of indulgemce why not book onto a Ping Experience which includes a tour of the Ping factory, all meals for the day, 18-holes of golf along with your first tee shots filmed and analysed by one of the clubs professionals.

Further south there is Woodhall Spa with its world famous Hotchkin Course - at over 100 years old this is still as tough a test as you will find anywhere – watch out for the bunkers – they will be amongst the deepest you’ve ever seen. Bringing the club right up to date the English Golf Union extended their facilities with the addition of the Bracken Course in 1998. With their state of the art coaching facilities, short game improvement area, historic clubhouse and idyllic sleepy village setting you will find yourself instantly at home.

Moving south you will find two outstanding resorts just off the A1 – so easily accessible from both north and south. The first of these is De Vere Belton Woods – a 4-star hotel with 2 18-hole golf courses, a 9-hole academy course, driving range and a health & leisure club to make your stay as relaxing or strenuous as you want. As the home of the oldest PGA tournament in the world – the Midlands PGA - this is certainly somewhere that will test your skills – whatever level of player you are. The Championship Lakes course has everything you could want and as the name denotes plenty of water to catch any errant shots. The Woodside 18 hugs the boundary of the course and takes you to the very highest point of the club offering some stunning views over the picturesque Lincolnshire Vales.

Finishing off your tour of the county you will need to step over the A1 to reach Greetham Valley – another 45-hole golf complex with 2 18-hole gems, a par 3 course, driving range, welcoming club house and newly built 35 bedroom hotel. Set in picturesque Rutland countryside both courses use the natural contours of the landscape to test your metal! With numerous ponds, winding streams, mature woodland and rolling hills you will hardly believe that you are a mere stones throw from one of the country’s main roads.

If these courses haven’t inspired you enough there are a handful of other courses that offer something out of the ordinary. At both Forest Pines Resort and Belton Park Golf Club there are three distinctly different loops of 9-holes to pick from.

At Q-Hotels Forest Pines Resort you can choose your combination from the original Forest and Pines loops – next time you come back you could always start on the newer Beeches loop – all have magnificently manicured fairways and greens presenting a really tough test. With their attached 4-star hotel, health & leisure club, driving range and restaurants this offers the perfect spot for a break with a selection of offers throughout the year.

At Belton Park you have similar options set against the back drop of the National Trust’s Belton House. With the club founded in 1890 golf has been played here for well over a century. This course also has its own herd of fallow deer which roam the course quite oblivious to the shots of fore!
