Some people say that this is part of the county is a real mecca for golfers. Elsham Golf Club, with its links to Tony Jacklin is the perfect starting point and if you base yourself at the nearby Q-Hotels Forest Pines Resort you can combine great golf with 4-star luxury. With one of the best municipal courses in the county at Normanby Hall and courses at Holme Hall, Ashby Decoy, The Lincolnshire Golf Club and Kingsway you have some simply stunning courses – all within easy reach the M180 – one of the major routes into the county.
For a days exploration off the course you might need to do a bit of research before you get in the car.
Starting at the very north of the county your day can begin at Waters’ Edge Visitors Centre – one of the area’s newest natural attractions. Set on the banks of the Humber Estuary you can learn about the native wildlife along with exploring the full 86 acres of this country park.
In and around the industrial town of Scunthorpe you will find a host of attractions – from the 20-21 Visual Arts Centre where you can enjoy regularly changing programme of contemporary arts and crafts; to the North Lincolnshire Museum where you can learn about the rich history of the area. Further out of the town you will find the fabulous Normanby Hall – with its farm museum, Victorian Walled Garden and 300 acres of grounds you can literally spend the whole day relaxing at this beautiful country house and estate.
With religious heritage to be found at Epworth Old Rectory and one of the county’s best market towns in Brigg you won’t struggle to fill your day … or days … in this part of the county.
