Antiques
When you’ve had a holiday it’s nice to return home with souvenirs. Lincolnshire can offer something special to suit every taste.
The area, renowned as a mine of superb antiques is the place to find something unique and priceless.
If you love the thrill of the chase, the most exciting hunting ground of all is Hemswell, an old airfield, home to over 300 dealers with thousands of items. Spend hours exploring the hundreds of rooms packed with everything you could possibly think of. Beautiful bric-a-brac, collectables, curios…so much browsing in one place.

Regular auctions are also held throughout the county. Don’t forget the antique fairs, when even the most eager enthusiast may be overwhelmed by the sheer choice on offer. Look out for the programme all through the summer – Swinderby, Lincoln Showground, Stamford, Brigg, Grimsthorpe, Newark and many more.
Horncastle’s antique shops are legendary, earning it the nickname of the ‘Best Antiques Town’. Picturesque Stamford in the Lincolnshire Vales also has some hotspots. Other popular towns for antiques include Sutton Bridge, Boston, Market Rasen and Louth. There’s fascinating showrooms with fine artefacts from every era.
BBC favourite The Antiques Roadshow has been known to set up stall at Lincoln Cathedral.
Remember, the traditional way to decide whether to buy that amazing piece is over a slice of Lincolnshire plumbread and a good cup of tea…
