Local produce
Welcome to the country’s larder - a county proud to produce around one-fifth of Britain’s food.
Thanks to the fertile farmland and rich rural landscape of Lincolnshire, it has a bountiful supply of homegrown produce. Taste the difference by tucking into the freshest of food.
Everywhere you look in Lincolnshire you will find a fantastic selection of speciality food and drink shops dedicated to producing the finest local produce. From the busy fish docks to the windmills, the farmlands, the butchers, the bakers to the chocolate maker.
Local specialties on offer include tender, marbled Lincoln Red beef, Stuffed Chine - pork stuffed with parsley – the spicy, fruity afternoon tea treat plum-bread, Lincolnshire’s well known sage-rich variety of sausages, the tangy, traditional Lincolnshire Poacher cheese, exotic ostrich, beers, Belvoir fruit cordials and a superb selection of vegetables.

They’re readily available, often direct from the farm, free from pesticides and chemicals. Similarly the meats are often from animals reared by the butchers themselves or supplied only from local farms.
The abundance of farmer’s markets offer great opportunities to get acquainted with the range of what’s on offer. How about visiting Oslinc, the ostrich farm near Boston, or the The Pink Pig, a farm shop in Scunthorpe? Just two foodie hotspots where you can explore local delicacies and organic, homemade treats, such as a variety of flavours of icecream, homecured meats and organic, free range eggs.
As a mark of local provenance, look out for the Tastes of Lincolnshire logo at places to stay, shops, producers, cafes, pubs, restaurants and farm shops. Tastes of Lincolnshire is a Lincolnshire County Council and European Union funded project encouraging people to choose local food and drinks.
Our official champion for Tastes of Lincolnshire is celebrity chef Rachel Green. Rachel grew up on a farm in Lincolnshire and promotes the goodness and variety available here. Her mantra for gourmet dining is “Eat locally, eat seasonally, eat well.” Look out for Rachel at Tastes of Lincolnshire events.
