Rural charm

Rolling fields dotted with pretty villages and peaceful vistas of unspoilt countryside...welcome to the Lincolnshire Wolds.

As an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Wolds offers pure relaxation in peaceful surroundings – this pocket of Lincolnshire is a surprising contrast to the flatter plains we’re more commonly associated with!

Escape to a cosy cottage in the hills, tuck yourself into a woodland log cabin or head off to one of the area’s market towns - where you’ll find plenty of hotels, guest houses and bed and breakfast accommodation. Louth, to the North of the area has independent shops, delis and a great market all within its smart Georgian streets. Make sure you take a look at the spire of Louth St James, the tallest of any Anglican parish church in England at 295ft.

The Wolds is a fantastic area for exploring on foot – every year, hundreds of people gather for the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival featuring dozens of free walks for everyone to enjoy. With an abundance of open countryside, winding tracks and breathtaking scenery the Wolds is ideal for cycling, horse riding and enjoying nature.

The Lincolnshire Wolds has a good variety of golf courses to enjoy, or if a more adrenalin-fuelled experience beckons there’s 4x4 driving, rally car racing and tanks at Manby Motorplex. Sport fans can catch the British Superbike Championship or take a driving experience at Cadwell Park or back a winner on the horses at Market Rasen Racecourse.
