Lincolnshire has some of the best fishing venues in England with many British rod records held and broken in the county.
There's plenty of choice for all anglers - from novice to experienced. The excellent variety of rivers, drains and canals plus still waters cater for every taste in this popular sport.
For some of the finest fishing waters in England, take to the chalk streams of the Wolds or the low-lying waterways of the Fens, the tranquil waters of the Trent or the Ancholme Valley – considered by many anglers to be one of the best fishing waters in the country.

Expect to Catch
There are first class angling opportunities in Lincolnshire, from the chalk streams of the Wolds to our low lying fen areas, Lincolnshire offers a tremendous variety for anglers of all abilities and a great fishing experience! Contact your local angling club to find out more.
Fishing Seasons
Coarse fishing on rivers, canals and drains is permitted between 16 June – 14 March.
The fishing season relating to still waters is at the owners discretion. Game Fishing on rivers is permitted from 1st April – 31 October.

Access for All
Lincolnshire offers a variety of different waters and venues to suit all tastes in fishing. We have diverse and productive rivers and drains systems and plenty of peaceful lakes across the county.
To fish at some of the sites you need to be a member of a fishing club. Don’t be daunted by this. It’s usually a very easy process! Just call the contact provided; they are very friendly and will help and advise you on how to join and can often give further advice on the best sites to fish, local tackle shops and anything else fish related that you need to know!
Anyone can fish from accessible fishing platforms; but please be courteous and vacate the platforms for wheelchair users and less mobile anglers to fish in these areas. If there are standard platforms available use these instead.

Reel Project
Recreational and Environmental Enhancements in Lincolnshire
The REEL project is part of the Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership initiative to regenerate the county through its waterways.
Improvements for fishing and quiet recreation are at the heart of REEL and a wide variety of projects have been completed to help people enjoy the thrill of fishing and the peace and tranquillity of the Lincolnshire countryside.
REEL, a three year project, was launched in 2004 as part of the Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership with funding from Lincolnshire County Council, the European Regional Development Fund and the Environment Agency. REEL focused on the waterways around Lincoln and Boston.
Using £496,000 of project funds, REEL has enhanced habitat for fish and wildlife, created better access for anglers and encouraged local people to “have a go” at fishing. Amanda Jenkins, REEL Project Officer, has worked with several partners including local angling clubs and the British Disabled Angling Association to provide improvements on our waterways.
