Lincolnshire brims with quiet but constant creative industry. It’s a place that celebrates and nurtures arts and craft and the relaxing environment seems to attract all kinds of specialist, talented artisans. There are painters and potters, sculptors and saddle makers, furniture and clocks, decorations and decoupage, spinning, wood turning and many independent artists in their own specialist field. There are craft centres, shops and workshops everywhere.
Call at Manor Stables Craft Workshops, Fulbeck, or go to Sleaford where the old Slea Navigation wharf area of the town has been developed into a new and exciting centre for contemporary craft.
Art on the Map is a series of open studios and workshops showcasing a large number of Lincolnshire’s best artists and craftmakers. In May/June of each year Art on the Map has an Open Studios event where visitors can watch artists in situ.

If you want pieces to take home, browse an extensive selection of creative wares at the Hemswell Craft & Design Centre, where artists and designers sell their goods to the public - find plentiful glassware, beaded jewellery, local art and craftmaking goods. There’s no shortage of opportunities to get creative yourself.
Take a palette and a canvas along to one of the spectacular beaches, or get comfortable at the top of a hill with your sketchbook overlooking the rolling countryside of the Wolds.
With numerous arts and crafts events taking place across the county, you’re sure to find an occasion to express yourself. Attend a creative workshop and produce something a bit different - a Batik course, perhaps? Visit one of the UK’s largest contemporary art space at The Hub in Sleaford where short courses are on offer for both adults and children.
Did you know you probably already take part in the Arts? Join in and celebrate Arts events with the fantastic This is Art programme. For more information visit www.thisisartlincs.org
