From the Humber Bridge at Barton-upon-Humber to Oakham, passing through some of the quietest and most attractive scenery in eastern England. The long distance footpath of 147 miles runs through the Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the market town of Horncastle, the Lincolnshire Limewoods. the city of Lincoln, the southern Lincolnshire Edge and the Kesteven Uplands before it travels through Leicestershire and Rutland.
The route was given its name by the Ramblers Association in 1976, due to the influence of the Danelaw in this part of the country.
