Originally a Victorian Primitive Methodist Chapel, it's conversion was followed by the BBC's Village SOS programme into Caistor Arts & Heritage Centre. The iconic building has become a hub of activity for the town, combining a cafe, library, heritage centre and exhibition space. 28 Plough Hill now operates as a social enterprise with employees and many dedicated volunteers.
The Centre houses a small, well-lit gallery presenting monthly shows covering a wide range of media. Artists are selected for quality of work and their proven ability to stage a strong exhibition with an individual focus - see 'What's on at a glance'
Working closely with Caistor Heritage Trust to protect and share the historical records of this ancient town, within the centre you'll find many intersting local artefacts and a timeline showing Caistor's history from 8000BC to the present day. Exhibitions and lectures bring to life the history of the town and its inhabitants. see 'What's on at a glance'
The Centre hosts a friendly 'Tastes of Lincolnshire' cafe offering delicious home-made snacks and cakes using local Lincolnshire produce. Excellent coffee and a range of teas and soft drinks are available.
Caistor Library is also situated within the Centre enabling increased opening hours 7 days a week. It has an excellent selection of books and literature on local history, and offers free internet access.
The Centre is building up a range of high quality cards and gifts for sale in the shop and aims to specialise in the work of local artists and crafts people.
