The museum interprets the archaeology and history of this market town and includes Sir Isaac Newton, the Dambusters and Margaret Thatcher.
The headquarters of Bomber Command's 5 Group was in Grantham and the Dam Busters raid was largely planned there. The museum has a small display relating to 617 Squadron and also to Aan forces stationed in the area.

Grantham Museum is the interpretation centre for this market town and its surrounding area. Come and explore its displays of archaeology and social history. Find out about Isaac Newton (1642-1727), who was born locally and educated in Grantham. A great physicist, he was voted 'Man of the Millennium' by the Sunday Times.
Margaret Thatcher was born in Grantham and she has given the museum many personal items. Also on display is a large 'Spitting Image' cake.
Grantham born Madame Montanari was a doll maker for Queen Victoria's children. A doll that won first prize at the Great Exhibition in 1851 can be seen on display. Did you know the famous 'Dambusters' raid of World War II was largely planned from Grantham? Come and see part of a real bouncing bomb!

Access: wheelchair and pushchair users can access the permanent and Temporary galleries and the gift shop. The educational/ activity space is situated on the first floor up two flights of stairs.
