IBCC VE Day 80 Beacon Lighting, Music and Dinner
Join the team at IBCC as they commemorate 80 years since Victory in Europe was declared.
After nearly six years of war Germany officially surrendered on 7 May 1945 and the conflict was finally over.
The unconditional surrender came after Adolf Hitler took his own life on 30 April as the Allies surrounded Berlin, and was authorised by his successor Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz.
The announcement that the war was over was broadcast across the radio to the British people on the evening of 7 May with a news flash announcing that VE Day would be a national holiday and would take place the next day.
The evening includes:
Prosecco reception
A two course dinner including a celebration of National Fish and Chip Day, set as the dish to commemorate this special day
VE Day 80 Beacon Lighting at the Spire
Dance the rest of the evening away with Lincolnshire’s very own Blighty Belles.
This event will be one of a number at the IBCC marking this momentous event in our history. Events will be taking place throughout the country including Pipers playing a specially written piece of music from the four UK peaks, Bell ringing and the lighting of Lamps of Peace.
