Enjoy an evening wandering along our Enchanted Lights event where you will walk through a woodland trail lit up with coloured lights, soft music and special illuminations. You begin your experience walking through a lit tunnel leading to a ice themed garden with snowflakes, icicyles and a snowman before warming up along the trail to culminate in fire performances at the end!
You wind through the trees around onto to the Old Hall Lawn where a magical children’s Fairground Carousel awaits, marshmallow toasting and a selection of drinks will also be available. Throw your loose change in the St Barnabas Hospice wishing fountain, take a moment to appreciate the incredible work they provide and chat to one of the St Barnabas volunteers whilst absorbing the atmosphere of the arboretum. Make sure you stop by the story telling bell tent to enjoy some enchanting tales, before walking around to the safari tent where fire dancing and LED performances will take place under the sparkling glitter ball. Don’t forget to follow the festoon lighting around to the home oak tree decorated with baubles and stars; before walking around to add a ribbon to the Treasured Memory Tree. This makes for an truly immersive and entertaining evening for all ages!
The specific timings of the fire / LED performances and story telling will be confirmed nearer the event time.
For those wanting a snack to enjoy along the trail, there is the opportunity to purchase marshmallows to toast on the specially designed mini fire-pits under the stars on the Old Hall Lawn and at the end of the trail enjoy locally produced food from a variety of street food vendors available around the fire-pit: Curry Jacks, The Roaming Dough, Twisted Group, Fleurs Kitchen (2nd/3rd November) and Flippin Crepes (4th/5th November)
Ferry Ales Brewery will be serving a selection of drinks from the old hall lawn and the bar in the safari tent, where there will be additional seating for you can keep warm beside the log burner – perhaps indulge in a Baileys hot chocolate or locally brewed beer from the bar or a Mulled Wine and extend your time.
This event is perfect for those who are seeking an alternative to a traditional fireworks display at this time of year and is well suited to small children and those with additional needs. Well behaved dogs on leads are also more than welcome to enjoy the peace and beauty of this night time event with you.
