Plan Your Family Days Out

Lincoln loves kids and there are lots of family days out and activities for children across the city to enjoy.

For history hunters pick up the family audio guide on the Medieval walls of Lincoln Castle; take an explorer back pack around Lincoln Cathedral; see life as a Victorian at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life; or follow the free Roman Trail around the city on your smartphone.

Plus a programme of family music, theatre, and story brings lots to do throughout the year in the city’s venues. Lincoln Drill Hall, New Theatre Royal, and Lincoln Performing Arts Centre feature children’s workshops and shows for the whole family to enjoy, plus family cinema at The Venue and storytime at The Collection.

As everyone knows the main reason you visit the coast is to see some golden sand. Lincolnshire Coast is full of sandy beaches which all offer something that little bit different.

If you are after the traditional seaside feel then hire out a beach hut on Mablethorpe seafront whilst enjoying the two mile stretch of blue flag status sands.

Skegness offers donkey rides and the air is filled with music from the fairground and the smell of fresh donuts.

If you are after a tranquil and peaceful beach then visit the beaches dotted along the Coastal Country Park or Anderby Creek, an unspoilt beach which once discovered you will want to return time and time again.

Working farm with a bright and warm indoor play area, a traditional, wooden outdoor play area, and the Oink cafe serving homemade goodies.

Meet racoons, reptiles, cheeky monkeys and big cats at Woodside. With daily displays, interactive talks, and adventure play area, there is something do for toddlers to grandmas.

Make some farm yard friends, find out where your milk comes from, and let off steam in the indoor play area or outdoor adventures activities.

Experience the sights, sounds, smells and even the movements of life as a 1950’s trawlerman aboard the historic ‘Ross Tiger’ fishing trawler.

Transport yourself into the underwater world of Treasure Island and learn about the world of marine life, including fearsome sharks, and tantalising octopus,

Sit back and enjoy a 4 mile return journey along the picturesque Humberside Coast on one of Britain’s oldest seaside miniature railways.

Head to the coast for exhilarating rollercoasters for older kids (and adults!) and attractions for little ones including rides, a soft play area and live character shows.

Often thought of as the perfect English country house, Belton is also great for families in search of outdoor fun, with seasonal trails and the National Trust’s largest outdoor adventure playground.

Walk through the trees of the Tree Top Village, play some Dino Golf, and drive in your own yellow mini-digger at the UK’s largest JCB Young Drivers Zone.
