Did you know this about

Lincoln Longwools and Lincoln Reds?

Did you Know?

These crazily curled rare breed sheep, known as Lincoln Longwools can be seen in the county’s fields or looking their coiffured best at one of the country shows like Lincolnshire (June) or Heckington (July). Sheep were the basis of Lincolnshire’s medieval wealth and the building of our magnificent churches.

The cherry red Lincoln Red are one of the oldest of Britain’s native cattle breeds. Known for their docility, the breed fits in well with environmental conservation schemes. Apparently the Lincoln Reds will ‘get fat on sunshine’! Look out for Lincoln Red beef on local menus.
