Spalding

Spalding is a beautiful, friendly, bustling market town set in the picturesque rural district of South Holland.

The town makes for an excellent day’s visit and with a good selection of hotels and B&Bs can be a useful base from which to visit the wider South Lincolnshire area.

A vibrant and busy town centre, Spalding boasts a large number of unique independent shops and many well known high street nationals. It holds a market day every Tuesday and Staurday, a farmers market every first Saturday of the month and an annual Food & Drink festival and visiting continental markets (check the town website for details).

With many historical buildings you can see and visit, such as Ayscoughfee Hall and Gardens, the Chain Bridge Forge, a fantastic living museum and a host of amazing churches situated throughout the town and outlying villages. Large parts of the town centre are in a conservation area and the elegant Georgian terraces and tree-lined walks along the River Welland are stunning. Just off the town centre, you can embark on a relaxing 30 minute cruise on the Spalding Water Taxi to Springfields Outlet Shopping Centre and award winning Festival Gardens.

You and your family can experience the diversity of habitats around the Wash Estuary, one of Europe’s most protected coastal areas or enjoy tranquillity whilst exploring the network of Fens waterways and all under the famous Lincolnshire “Big Skies”.
