International Chambers Music Festival goes virtual this summer, so you can watch and enjoy the summer festival from the safety of your own home.

Since cancelling the Summer Festival 2020, the Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival were determined that you, their loyal audience, should be able to experience some of what they had planned.

Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival began in 2004, under the artistic directorship of Graham Oppenheimer. The first event saw 25 events span over 8 days in unique venues across Lincoln and Lincolnshire. And the much-enjoyed event has been growing across Lincolnshire ever since.

Their fantastic Artistic Director, Alissa Firsova, has worked tirelessly to secure videos from many of the artists who would have appeared in the Summer Festival, and they are extremely excited to announce their very first Virtual Summer Festival.

Daniel Rowland and Friends

Violinist Daniel Rowland – whose impressive virtuosity should have been kicking off the 2020 Summer Festival – will open the Virtual Festival with some wonderful performances recorded at his own music festival in the Netherlands, the Stift Festival, with a host of special guests including our Artistic Director, Alissa Firsova.

Simon Mulligan: Rhapsody in Blue

Simon Mulligan, the British-born, US-based pianist performs his own rip-roaring arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue for piano only. Simon should have been appearing twice at the Summer Festival, including giving a performance of the Gershwin classic, so we’re thrilled that you will still be able to experience this exhilarating performance.

In Conversation with Mark Padmore

Now for something completely different. After several performances with us over recent years, critically acclaimed tenor Mark Padmore was going to be our Artist-in-Residence this year. He talks all things chamber music with LICMF Trustee, Dr Nicole Panizza, in what promises to be an incredibly enlightening event.

Dazzling Mexican guitarist Morgan Szymanski performs three of his favourite pieces in this short but sweet concert.

Yoanna Prodanova

After her memorable performances of Bach’s 5th and 6th Cello Suites last year, Yoanna Prodanova joins us for a performance of Bach’s 4th Cello Suite. She also pays homage to the late composer Dmitri Smirnov whose work Farewell opens her recital.

Alissa Firsova and Ludmila Pavlová

Artistic Director Alissa Firsova closes the Virtual Summer Festival with a performance with violinist Ludmila Pavlová  recorded in Cambridge in November 2019. The concert features music by some of the greatest Russian composers including Tchaikovsky, Glinka and Alissa Firsova’s father, the late composer Dmitri Smirnov.
