Favourite dog walk?

Short Walk through Southrey Woods. It changes with the seasons. Blankets of bluebells and wood anemones give way to bright shards of light fighting through the canopy, and in turn give way to Autumn leaves and baskets of sloes (if you're lucky!). Time your day right for an end of walk treat at the Bardney Heritage Centre Chippy.

Best thing to do with kids?

Wild Pines has a choice of tree top courses with ropes, walkways, zip wires, all set in the forest near Market Rasen. The adventures can be tailored to all ages and degrees of bravery. The grounds are home to many more activities too, archery, mini golf, trails.

Top Tip: If your grown-up bravery deserts you – shout encouraging remarks up to the children from terra firma!

Best spot for a cocktail?

The White Hart, Lincoln. Recently refurbished, and right in the heart of Lincoln's cathedral quarter on Bailgate. The White Hart is charming, elegant, and exudes laid back quality. The cocktail menu is extensive!  Enjoy an Old Fashioned huddled with friends and perhaps share a platter of charcuterie and nibbles to make a night of it.

Best spot for a Sunday roast?

The Royal Oak, Cawthorpe 'The Splash'. A traditional village pub, right in the heart of the AONB, you'll cross the village ford (hence its nickname) to arrive at this picturesque find just 2 miles from Louth. Eat at the bar (dog friendly) or in the main restaurant.  As well as Sunday lunch, the sandwich platters are very tasty too. And if you need a stroll to walk off lunch, the nearby villages are picture perfect.

Favourite day out?

Market Rasen Racecourse. Dress to the nines, pop on a hat and head to the races for a great day out. Ladies Day draws crowds from all over the county and beyond. Attended in all weathers over the years, but the atmosphere is always fabulous.

Top Tip – if you plan to stay over nearby, book accommodation in good time.

Favourite independent shop?

Petal & Stalk, Navenby. A beautifully aesthetic florist shop window displays an abundance of flowers and plants. Step inside for more floral inspiration along with a cute selection of candles, pots, baskets, and other gifts.

Top Tip: If you want to make a couple of hours of it (at least) just carry on along Navenby High Street to find more independents, including the Aladin’s cave that is the Navenby Antiques Centre.

Best spot for a catch up?

Doddington estate has undergone quite the transformation over the years and really has become a destination in its own right. Newly opened, The Grain Store is a brilliant spot to gather for lunch. A clever mix of traditional and Scandi-esque décor – this bright welcoming space is perfect for everything from coffee and cake, to more formal dining and an extensive locally sourced seasonal menu. If you fancy a spot of retail therapy wander across to Doddington at Home and the Farm Shop; and if a dog walk is your thing head out over the estate fields and enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Best view?

The Humber Bridge. The path that runs alongside the south bank of the Humber and goes underneath the Humber Bridge – it gives you a fantastic different viewpoint to this amazing structure. I never fail to be impressed, in awe, and fascinated in equal measures by the sight and spectacle of the Bridge. The juxtaposition of the industrial mega-structure sitting atop the natural country park below is perfect.
