The Countryside

To the north of Lincoln lies miles of open countryside along with inland waterways offering gentle walking and wildlife havens. You’ll find one of the country’s best-preserved medieval manor houses along with picturesque canal and riverside spots. The hand of history lingers here too, from the early years of the Pilgrim Fathers to the birthplace of Methodism. And it can also lay claim to a town that was once the capital of England and Denmark at the same time… but only for five weeks.
