market town with charm, community, and countryside
Kirton in Lindsey, also known as Kirton Lindsey is a small market town in North Lincolnshire, seven miles from Scunthorpe. Kirton Lindsey is situated half on top and half on the side of the Lincoln Cliff, the limestone escarpment which runs for over 50 miles from the Humber Estuary to near Grantham.
On the edge of the escarpment to take advantage of the wind is Mount Pleasant Mill, built in 1875 and restored to working order. It produces flour and has a bakery alongside and there are wide views over the Trent Valley.
St Andrew’s United Church includes Anglican, Methodist and Baptist congregations and dates from the late 12th century; look out for the gargoyles on the tower.
