Enjoy an evening of unforgettable music in the magnificent setting of Burghley’s Great Hall.
One of the most famous oratorio ever written and perhaps Handel’s best known work, Messiah needs little introduction. Written in just twenty-four days, the work is known for its ability to move an audience from sorrow to joy, from despair to sheer exultation through its solos and choruses, including the famous Hallelujah chorus. Some 275 years on from the first performance of Messiah, this amazing work continues to be hugely popular with audiences around the world.
Performed at Burghley by the Cantus Choir and Orchestra conducted by Alwyn Pollard with acclaimed soloists Belinda Evans (Soprano), Vanessa Heine (Alto), George Pooley (Tenor) and Robert Gildon (Bass).
With its double hammer-beam ceiling, oak panelling and stunning Tudor fireplace, the Great Hall is a wonderfully atmospheric setting for this special performance of Handel’s masterpiece.
The evening begins with refreshments in the Orangery Restaurant, where interval drinks will also be served.
