Every summer more than 34,000 people from throughout the UK and from overseas attend the Stamford Shakespeare Company’s acclaimed summer season of plays in June, July and August at the Rutland Open Air Theatre, Tolethorpe Hall.

Tolethorpe Hall

The grounds of Tolethorpe Hall were landscaped in their present form in 1867 and remain much the same except that they where completely overgrown when the property was acquired by the Stamford Shakespeare Company in 1977.

Enjoy your own picnic in the beautiful gardens before heading into the auditorium to sit back, relax and be entertained. The picnic slope overlooks classic English parkland with historic Tolethorpe Hall in the background.

Tolethorpe Youth Drama

We provide a full, immersive programme of drama and acting training for 5 – 18 year olds. Inspiration and imagination is at the heart of all our work and students of all ages are united through a shared love of theatre, the power of stories and how they are told.
