Explore the old meadows and new habitats of Wilder Doddington to find the once common butterflies in the countryside. You will walk the paths around the estate, learning how to identify the butterflies you see, their lifestyles, why butterflies (and other insects) are in crisis, and simple things you can do to help their future.
Your Guide: The walk will be led by Dr. Ian Paterson, chair of the Lincolnshire Branch of Butterfly Conservation, the only charity entirely devoted to studying and conserving butterflies and moths. Ian retired after working for the Government’s Conservation Advisor for more than 30 years. For the past three years, he has been training volunteers at Doddington and across the county to identify butterflies they see to help monitor the health of the natural environment.
No experience required, just bring a pair of binoculars if you have them!
