Walk on the Wild Side at Wilder Doddington
Explore the rapidly changing landscape and see the nature that is returning to Wilder Doddington. This is a chance to leave the public footpaths with the Head of Rewilding, Isobel Wright, for a relaxed exploration, walking 2-4 km.
Marvel at the mosaic of habitats being created by the roaming rare breed Lincoln Red cattle, wild Exmoor ponies and curly coated pigs. You may catch sight of a deer, hare or slow worm or two. Walk into the woodland to see the value of open glades, standing dead wood and other features rarely seen, explaining their value to beetles, butterflies, birds and bats.
You will be able to discuss the processes involved in rewilding, species reintroduction and learn about the exciting projects ahead.
Depending on the weather and on the location of the keystone animals you may head out by minibus to one or more parts of the estate to walk from there. Booking essential.
