VE Day 80 – Service of Thanksgiving at IBCC
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe, the IBCC are holding a public Service of Thanksgiving for the freedom those who served have given us.
Join the teams from the IBCC and VE80 Lincoln to mark this important moment in our history.
The journey to Victory in Europe Day was paved with immense struggle and sacrifice. After six years of intense fighting, VE Day marked the official end of the Second World War in Europe.
On May 8, 1945, cities across Europe celebrated the defeat of Nazi Germany. The day was filled with joy, relief, and reflection as communities honoured the bravery of the military and the resilience of civilians who endured the war. It was a moment of unity and a promise of peace for future generations.
“This is your victory… Victory of the cause of freedom in every land.” – Winston Churchill
