King William Returns – Lincoln Castle Characters

Add to favourites
Aug 8
8th August 2026 - 9th August 2026

Join William the Conqueror at the Victorian Prison as he returns to Lincoln Castle for the Castle Characters reenactment series.

King William returns to Lincoln Castle to see how work to fortify our important City is progressing.

His stepbrother commissioned a tapestry to show his most famous victory at Hastings, and it seems to be very popular. Now William is wondering if he should do the same. He’s got a local English noblewoman to consult with, and he is anxious to make sure that everyone knows that the Battle of Hastings was his victory!

He’ll be explaining about his life and asking YOU - the loyal citizens of Lincoln - to recreate his finest hour!

The activity is located within the Victorian Prison Exercise Yard and is included as part of the Castle Day ticket and free for annual pass holders to enjoy.
