Opened in 2001, Poachers was a 5-barrel micro brewery which was originally situated on the former site of RAF Swinderby (a war time Bomber Command Station, latterly the School of Recruit Training before closing in 1992). The Brewery is owned and operated by George Batterbee, a former RAF man for 25 years who has come 'full circle', as he spent his first tour at RAF Swinderby which lasted for 5 years. Today the brewery operates from a converted barn at the rear of the brewer's house in North Hykeham. All the beers brewed by Poachers are also available in Bottle-Conditioned form. Visitors are welcome to view the Brewery subject to prior arrangements.
