Sleaford, a thriving market town with a population of around 17,000, boasts a fascinating history with Roman, Iron Age, and Bronze artefacts, some even showcased in the British Museum. Nestled on the River Slea, the town finally found a home for its historical treasures in 2015, thanks to the dedication of many passionate individuals over forty years.
The Sleaford Museum Trust, established in 1994, played a pivotal role, evolving from temporary spaces to a Virtual Museum online. With the support of a Heritage Lottery grant, the Trust opened the Sleaford Museum in Monument Gardens, fulfilling its mission of “Sharing Our Stories.” Run by a small, dedicated team of volunteers, the museum is a testament to the town’s vibrant past.
