With a history dating back to around 1700, Fydell House was originally built for the Jackson family, prominent mercers of the time. It later became the namesake of Joseph Fydell, a merchant who acquired the house in 1726. The house has since been associated with several generations of the Fydell family, including Richard Fydell, who served as Boston’s MP and mayor.
