Step into Gainsborough’s past at the Gainsborough Heritage Centre. On the ground floor, explore an industrial exhibition space featuring locally made products and machinery. Don’t miss the Centre’s shop, Exchange Tea Room, and other amenities.
Ascend to the first floor, where a twentieth-century themed street awaits. Former shops, a post office, and a backyard scene bring history to life. Keep an eye on the “What’s On” page for changing exhibitions.

Finally, the second floor houses an archive library—a treasure trove of information. From newspaper articles to an extensive oral history archive, it’s a researcher’s paradise. Note that the archive department is not open to the public.

Gainsborough Heritage Association is a registered charity, founded over 25 years ago in 1994. The Association's mission is to protect, preserve and promote the towns rich and vibrant past for future generations. The Centre has an extensive archive of local history information, including a research service available as well as permanent and temporary exhibitions that promote the town's heritage. The Centre also has a well-stocked shop and Telephone Exchange themed tea room open every Tuesday and Saturday 10-3. You can also organise group visits to the Heritage Centre for a weekday or evening session.
