Bardney Hall

Barton-upon-Humber

Bardney Hall was built in the early 1700’s as a private residence, and stands on the site of Bardney Abbey Rectory, the Lincolnshire monastery owning much of Barton in the middle ages. The Hall is reputed to have a secret tunnel leading to nearby Thornton Abbey, but unfortunately, this has never been found. The house remained a private dwelling until 1927 when it was sold to the catholic church and used as a convent school.
