The park is made up of a series of flooded former gravel pits which are home to a wide variety of wildlife.
There is a visitor centre (Natural World Centre) with a shop, café, exhibitions and toilets. Outside there is a playground and Life Trail.

The park is open dawn to dusk daily.

Whisby Nature Park is located off the A46, seven miles south-east of Lincoln.
The car park is tarmac and there are marked disabled bays outside the centre. There is a charge for parking.
The paths are compacted stone with some loose stones and tarmac. The route is mostly level or gently sloping.
Steepest uphill section: 1:16 (6%) for a distance of eight metres (the entrance to one of the bird hides has a three metre slope of 1:7/14%)
Steepest downhill section: 1:14 (7%) for a distance of 12m
Narrowest point: all paths are over one metre wide but the entrance to two of the bird hides is 80cm
Greatest cross slope: all paths are level
